Joe, I am so happy for you. The older I get, the more I appreciate my Catholic upbringing and what it created in me and others. I left in my early 20s to explore Eastern religions and practices, but recently I have been drawn home, in spirit if not in actual practice. Honestly, it was Ken's conversations with Fr. Keating that brought me slowly back around over the past 15 years. As has Pope Francis. I imagine that the Church will improve through your presence and work.
(I'm about to move away from Boston - not much heart, especially Harvard, and Boston College is really conservative.)
I'm an artist with a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies with an emphasis in Depth Psychology. I practiced meditation for 30 years. I now lead on Zoom weekly meditation sessions, a Buddhist Study group, and my Painting For Life art-therapy-style workshop.
Sending you my best wishes for this very courageous move. You probably already know about it, but I though that Rupert Sheldrake might be an inspiration for you since he was able to reconcile his attendance to the Catholic Church with his scientist research. Just a thought.
as a cradle Catholic I get this Joe. Humans have an inate need for belonging which is a fundamental value at traditional blue (amber). For me though, the traditional world religions can never be a true home for an integralist given that they are necessarily exclusive.
Sounds like a big change Joe. Sending my best wishes and I hope this move turns out even better than you imagine. David Watkins
